Comics = The ugly red-headed step-child of my life
Hey gang!
It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I’ve been pretty damn crazy busy lately, so I’ll give you a peek at what I’m up to right now. Sorry to say that I don’t have a new comic yet, as I haven’t had time to twist any of the sad little events in my life into something hilariously entertaining…yet.
Here’s a slice of some sketch booking I’ve been doing for some up coming paintings:
This is my friend Lindsay, who’s face I am currently obsessed with. The more I paint/sketch the more I realize how much my relationship with that person factures into the development of the finished product. Its like, as if the stakes are suddenly higher when I know the person that I’m sketching. I need to make the portrait not looking resemble the person but also feel like that person. You might be able to see the different when I sketch some random person on Facebook:
I know that I can see the difference. I don’t know this person at all, so I have no emotional point of reference for the portrait. The sketch is done…when I feel like it. The whole process has an overwhelming sense of ‘meh’ to it. So I think I’m going to continue sketching people that I have a connection with, for now, and see where it takes me.
So there you are, I’m alive, and sketching. I will be making comics soon, scout’s honor!
The Christmas Gift
This year, I decided to give Justin his own comic, with him as the main character, for Christmas. But, I ran out of time and bought him a bunch of fantastic crap instead. I did finish two pages so far, and I have posted them below. I will try to finish the whole book at…some point. I have so many projects right now, so don’t expect it anytime soon. I plan on diving full-on into painting for the next few months. But never fear, as I am still committed to posting silly comics about nothing. Lucky you! Hope ya’ll have a merry christmas.
